The golf industry has learned a lot in the last few years with regard to irons. Single length irons, whether it be our own extremely popular Pinhawk SL irons, Cobras, or other brands, have been proven to make the game easier. Bryson Dechambeau, love him or hate him, has shown the world that the single length concept is viable even at the highest level.

But is a full set of single length irons, from #3 iron all the way through sand wedge, ideal for every golfer? Simply put, no. A player with a slower swing speed may have trouble elevating their "long" irons in a single length set. If they do not have the swing speed in order to achieve an adequate launch, it can sap the distance of their "long" irons. Of course, for many, dealing with a lower launch on their "long" irons in single length clubs is worth the trade-off of having game improvement consistency.

The Best of Both Worlds

Introducing the Pinhawk Vertex Dual Length Irons! A vertex in math is defined as "a point where two lines meet", and that is the perfect name to describe these irons. Not completely single length, and not traditional length. Instead, just two different lengths: the 3, 4 and 5 irons one length, and the 6, 7, 8, 9, PW, AW, SW another.

This configuration results in no distance loss in the long irons and the full benefits of single length irons in the "short" set (6-SW). 2 different lengths, and just 2 swing planes, vs many planes in a traditional set.

The New Iron Technology

The 3 and 6 iron use a new iron technology. First, they have an ultra-thin, high strength cup face to help increase ball speed and maximize distance. The weight saved by the thinner face is positioned to allow for an optimal launch angle. This is a hollow bodied design that provides unparalleled forgiveness and distance.

The technology used in the lower lofted club in each of the two Vertex lengths (the 3 iron being the lowest lofted club of the long irons, and the 6 iron being the lowest lofted club of the short irons) is necessary for correct distance gapping across the entire set.

Can I just order the short set?
Absolutely. As we mentioned above, the Pinhawk Vertex short set (6, 7, 8, 9, PW, AW, SW) is a no-brainer for almost any golfer that wants more consistency in their game. We honestly feel that you would love the entire set, but we realize that some players dont use irons much beyond their 6 iron.

Cant I just buy some other iron heads and make (or modify) a set like this?
No, if you want a playable set. Both single length or dual length iron set cannot be made from traditional iron heads. A traditional set of iron heads has a different weight and lie angle for every head. If you were to try and build a set of single length or dual length set with heads of varying weight, not only would your swing weights vary wildly, but the flex of each club would also be different throughout the entire set.

Are they available in left hand?
Currently, there are no immediate plans of offering these in a left-handed version.

Can they be bent for lie?
Yes, the Vertex irons can be bent upright or flat a maximum of two degrees from the published specs.

Are the Pinhawk Vertex Irons USGA Legal?

Assembly Instructions and Tips for the Pinhawk Vertex Dual Length Irons
These irons are assembled differently from all other irons we carry because the head weights don't progress like a normal set. These are Dual Length irons. When you get done, the lower lofted (#3, #4, #5 irons) will be the exact same length with the only change being the loft. While the #6-iron - Wedges are a separate length.

For the #3, #4 and #5 Irons
Tip trim the shaft, regardless of the head, as if it were a #5-iron. Cut the butt-end to length as if it were a 5-iron. If someone orders a set +1/2, then make that length ½ over our standard #5-iron length.

For the #6-9 iron and Wedges
Tip trim the shaft, regardless ff the head, as if it were an #8-iron. Cut the butt-end to length as if were an 8-iron. If someone orders a set +1/2, then make that length ½ over our standard #8-iron length.

Ich kann wirklich nur Positives berichten
Vor 1 Monat habe ich mir einen Satz Pinhawk Vertex Dual length Eisen gekauft (Eisen 3 bis P) mit Stahlschäften. Ich spiele die zweite Saison Golf und hatte zum Zeitpunkt des Kaufes HCP 41. Mich hat das single-length Prinzip sehr angesprochen wobei ich auf Grund der Einschränkungen bei den langen Eisen ich mich für die DUAL LENGTH Eisen entschieden habe. Ich spiele sehr gerne lange Eisen anstelle von Hybriden bzw. Hölzer. Sie sind einfach besser kontrollierbar und der Ball fliegt flacher, selbst wenn es ab und zu auch etwas kürzer sein sollte. Nach 1 Monat kann ich nur Gutes berichten. Die Qualität der Eisen ist sehr gut und ich habe mich schnell an die neuen Schläger gewöhnt. Das Training von zwei Eisen-Längen ist jetzt viel einfacher und effizienter und man bekommt schnell eine gute Routine damit. Es macht wirklich Spass beim Training die verschiedenen Eisen ständig zu wechseln. Auch sind die langen Eisen 4 & 5 wirklich gut spielbar und ich komme auch gut mit dem Eisen 3 (nach langem Üben) zurecht. Einzige Anmerkung dazu ist, dass ich jetzt das Eisen 3 aus dem Bag genommen habe und ein Utility Eisen 2 mit 18 Grad Loft verwende. In knapp 1 Monat konnte ich mein HCP um 10 Punkte auf 31 verbessern.
